PHP
The PHP group of the account panel: the PHP version of each site, its PHP settings, and its PHP error log.
PHP version
Each site, main or addon, has its own PHP version, chosen from the versions installed on the server. The list shows when each version stops getting security fixes; newer versions are faster and get them for longer. Changing the version takes a few seconds, and the site keeps its files and settings. Check first that its plugins or framework support the new version.
Where the server offers PHP as an Apache module too (mod_php), it is a choice next to PHP-FPM. The main site can also be set to PHP is off: .php files are then not run.
A version that no longer gets security fixes shows under Needs attention on your Home page.
PHP settings
Settings for one site. Each shows the server's value; a value you choose applies to this site only, in a few seconds, without stopping pages that are loading.
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
Memory per request (memory_limit) | 128 MB to 2 GB |
Largest upload (upload_max_filesize, and post_max_size with it) | 8 MB to 512 MB |
Time limit (max_execution_time) | 30 to 300 seconds |
Form fields (max_input_vars) | 1000 to 10000 |
Show errors on pages (display_errors) | Off or on. Only while looking for a problem: visitors see the errors too. |
Time zone (date.timezone) | Any time zone |
A WordPress site is usually fine with 256 MB of memory, 64 MB uploads and 3000 form fields; big shops need more. With mod_php, the settings go into the site's Apache configuration and win over php_value lines in .htaccess.
PHP error log
Each site writes its PHP errors to logs/<site>-error.log in your home folder, also with "Show errors on pages" off. The page shows the newest lines of the site you choose, at the bottom, and can show only lines with a word such as Fatal or a file name. Open, download or empty the whole log in the file manager.
